Dear animal advocates,
We are sad to say that we are canceling Equality Squared. Despite our best efforts, we simply have fewer attendees registered with less than a week to go than we feel we need for maximum impact. We believe very strongly in advocating for animals and also for gender equity, but we do not think this event would be successful in carrying our mission forward. We will be thinking of other ways to support these causes, and we welcome any ideas you would like to share on this page.
Thanks to everybody who cares a lot about this work and also helped with the event as we planned it. We are grateful for the wisdom, energy, advice, and contributions you have made.

Equality Squared: Gender Equity in the Animal Advocacy Community
Date: Saturday, June 8
Time: 8:30 am to 3:30 pm
Location: Folwell Room 112, University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, 9 Pleasant Street Se, Minneapolis, MN, 55455
Gender inequality has inhibited the inclusivity and effectiveness of the animal advocacy movement. Although the majority of animal advocates are not cis men, cis men take up most of the leadership positions in the movement. Meanwhile, the #metoo movement has exposed the sexual misconduct of animal advocacy leaders.
In response to this problem, animal advocates are coming together for Equality Squared: Gender Equity in the Animal Advocacy Community, a free daylong workshop. The goal of this workshop is to build skills to resist interpersonal and institutional sexism. Free lunch will be provided. All genders are part of the solution, so we encourage all to attend.
