About our facilitators

The University of Minnesota's Aurora Center will facilitate a block of the training. Their mission is to serve all victims/survivors/concerned people of sexual assault, relationship violence, and stalking at the University of Minnesota and Augsburg University.

Raechel Anne Jolie is a writer, educator, media maker based in Minneapolis. She has been vegan for sixteen years and is the founder of Rebel Grrrl Living, a vegan food and lifestyle blog (2011-2015). She's taught numerous classes on vegan cooking and baking and has written about the intersection of politics, feminism, and animal advocacy. Raechel received her PhD in Communication Studies with a minor in Gender & Sexuality Studies from the University of Minnesota, and her work has been published in numerous academic journals as well as various popular press sites (Teen Vogue, Bitch Magazine, In These Times, and more). She is a proud cat-momma, a tarot reader, and co-host of the Feminist Killjoys, PhD podcast. You can find her @rebelgrrlraechel or at www.raechelannejolie.com.

Julie Knopp has spent the past decade working in education in the fields of animal advocacy, cross-cultural learning, and youth empowerment. Her involvement in the animal movement has included work at Animal Humane Society and volunteer positions with Vegan Outreach, Twin Cities Veg Fest, and SoulSpace Farm Sanctuary. She currently serves on the board of Compassionate Action for Animals. Julie has been interested in gender equity issues for years, often attending events and reading books related to the topic.

Unny Nambudiripad is is a co-founder and former Executive Director of Compassionate Action for Animals, currently serves on the Program Advisory Committee of the Animal Rights National Conference, and is planning a retreat for animal advocates. He has co-hosted a screening of the Mask You Live In, a movie about toxic masculinity and how to challenge it. He has been involved in several events to support survivors of sexual violence, and has worked with a men's group to undo toxic masculinity.
